The great mathematician Archimedes said, “Give me a lever and a place to stand and I can move the world.” The leverage concept applies to much more than physics, a fact that our students and alumni in Uganda are profoundly aware of. Read on to learn how the small lever of as little as an $8 investment can change the lives of willing Ugandans.

Without classics to read and discuss, Thomas Jefferson Education is nothing but a lofty and disappointing pipedream. This is the situation faced by our volunteers in Uganda—their students are begging to apply the knowledge they are learning, yet they suffer from a severe shortage in books.

So here’s what our friends in Uganda need: either donations to buy more books (specifically A Thomas Jefferson Education and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People right now) or the books themselves. George Wythe College has generously agreed to provide copies of TJEd specifically for this project for just $8 each. That’s just a few bucks to you and I, but it quite literally represents a bright future to these precious Ugandans.

It’s the Archimedes’ leverage principle applied to human minds and hearts. Our fellow alumni can move the world—they have a place to stand, now all they need is the lever of great classics in the craving hands of eager students.

You can invest in the future of Uganda by donating either money or books. Please carefully read the following instructions for each:

You can donate money in one of two ways: online, or with a check.

Online Donations

To donate online, click here. Start by entering the amount you would like to donate at the top (remember than just an $8 investment buys one TJEd book–a significant step in the right direction). Then choose your donation preference (one time or ongoing). Next, choose your privacy options. The next step is the most important one: In the box labeled “Designation” you MUST insert “LEU/Books”; otherwise, HELP will not know where the money is supposed to go. Then follow the remaining instructions to complete your online donation.

To donate with a check, make your check payable to HELP International and write “LEU/Books” on the memo line (without writing “LEU/Books” on the memo line HELP will not know where the money is supposed to go). Mail the check to HELP International, c/o LEU/Books, 363 N. University Ave. #110, Provo, Utah 84601.

Short on cash but still want to help? Books are as good as cash! Simply package copies of A Thomas Jefferson Education and other classics (right now we specifically prefer The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) and mail them to HELP International, c/o LEU/Books, 363 N. University Ave. #110, Provo, Utah 84601.

Thank You!

We fully understand that you have your own valuable projects that take your precious time, energy, and resources. We greatly appreciate your sincere consideration of this project. The beauty of this project is that so little effort from us here goes so incredibly far in Uganda. We look forward to doing great things there with your help.
